FAQ

How long will therapy take?

A single session can run anywhere between 50 to 70 minutes. The entire healing process is unique to each individual, however, depending on your needs, perceptions, and the depth of your issue.

How is a mental health counselor different from a psychiatrist?

A mental health counselor is an individual with a master’s degree in psychology, counseling, or a related field, and is licensed in their state; this type of professional is qualified to evaluate and treat mental health problems by providing counseling or psychotherapy. Psychiatrists, however, are medical practitioners specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness, with the ability to prescribe medications.

There are many times when counselors and psychiatrists collaborate to provide both psychotherapy and medication therapy.

What is expected of me as a client?

Therapy is based on a foundation of trust and a genuine rapport between counselor and client. Once a relationship has been established, it is imperative that a client demonstrate commitment, vulnerability, and a willingness to grow. The rest will fall into place.
